Bonus Boys - Everytime I See A Car Like Yours Go By b/w Wasting Our Time (1979)

Artist(s): Bonus Boys
Title: Everytime I See A Car Like Yours Go By b/w Wasting Our Time
Format: 7"
Year: 1979
Label/Catalog: Tsunami Music 3538

Didn't like it upon first listen. Now one of my favourite early Vancouver punk/new wave 7"s that I've heard. The lyrics are simple but the hooks and arrangements of the songs are what make this good. A lot of similarities to NO FUN in some respects and one of those bands all but forgotten because they weren't with the "in" crowd in the Vancouver punk scene. They beat out THE MODERNETTES at a battle of the bands and won studio time for the next single, "I Want To Work In A Bank" b/w "Confusing Ourselves". A third single was recorded but remained unreleased when they disbanded in 1981. Kim Clarke, the vocals, guitar, and brains behind the band and who went on with two other BONUS BOYS to form the post-punk band MOCCASIN TELEGRAPH, passed away in January of 2011.

The aborted "So Sad" b/w "Head For The Hills" 7", along with the other two singles can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/bonusboys, which I assume is an unofficial page.
