AV - AVEP (1978)

Artist(s): AV
Title: AVEP
Format: 7"
Year: 1978
Label/Catalog: Quintessence QET 001

Though I prefer the version of ‘Dying in Brooklyn’ TIM RAY did with THE DRUTS (which appears on the CD reissue of the Vancouver Complication) this is an important document of early Vancouver punk/new wave and was the first release on Quintessence which later went on to release singles and EPs from D.O.A, POINTED STICKS, and SUBHUMANS (the Vancouver one, naturally), among others. Not to mention TIM RAY was, in his own right, an important figure in the late 70s/early 80s Vancouver scene and if you wanted to read up on him you can do so here.

This is a 34 year old punk record and the fact it's held up this well is nearly a miracle. There's a potential to clean up some of those stray ticks and pops but other than that, until I find a better copy or someone puts out a TIM RAY discography (desperately needed), this is as good as it's going to get. This is MUCH better than my previous rip done before the Jico SAS upgrade.
