Second volume of the "Blobs" 7" series featuring bands from Victoria. No idea if there was every a volume 3 or beyond. Tom Holliston returns and his SHOW BUSINESS GIANTS go through two alright tracks. THE SQUIRRELS on the b-side, however, are what do this for me. Doing a cover of "Seasons in the Sun" with a little boy singing the lead is brilliant. While I suppose this is more of a split than "Various Artists", it's still part of 'various artists' series, so that's that. This is another from a friend's collection that I know little to nothing about.
Cool record, don't know anything about the Squirrels but I like their material. Show Business Giants have five great albums and a couple tapes, all with loads of super esoteric references and in-jokes, covering every single genre under the sun. I wish they were still active...
ReplyDeleteThere was at least a third volume of the series, a split between Bum and Scott Henderson (Show Business Giants, Hissanol, Shovlhed et al).
